Chinese new year...eve.
and TK had this chinese new year celebration.
the acts were quite crap.
no offence to the performers.
like the first act, it was this band comprising of only sec 4 people, one bass, one electric guitar, drums and the lead singer and they played some song which sounded familiar but i cant remember what title it was.
the lead singer kept striding back and forth, to and fro on stage and in the process drawing loud "stop walking!", "why he keep walking one?!" and "i feel dizzy!"s from the large audience below.
there was also this dance act by TK talentsearch champions, Flavalicious.
sounds like some group comprising of jellybeans for members. anyway, the jellybeans shook, bounced, danced and flipped their "natural" brown heads of hair around with all the energy they could muster. they were quite good, for a bunch of jellybeans.
miss toh also came onstage to belt out some ou de yang song accompanied by some sec 4 dude on the acoustic. she sounded as though she had swallowed far too much helium but the crowd loved her. amazing. Singapore Idol in the making!
plus, some choir guy played the piano alongside a girl playing the flute. the flute sounded ok, at least. really it was.
it wasnt wheezy and the sound was strong and clear halfway through the song "Reflections" by christina aguilera. (apparently, the anus of the flute wasnt at the mike for the first part of the song and the girl had approximately 1440+ people straining to hear her for about 5 minutes.)
but the best acts were by the two MCs, sijia and royce!
they were such naturals! sijia did the chinese part of the dialogue and royce was obviously the englishman around here. i thoroughly enjoyed the times they came onstage better than all the other acts. dont know about the rest of the audience though.

there were many other acts other than those but lets just skip them.

the climax of the day was when they started giving out hongbaos with those kind of cheap cola sweets in them.
then the audience started throwing them around at their unsuspecting friends.
aiyan then suddenly had such a brilliant idea i was surprised why i didnt think of it earlier.
the masterplan went something like this, aiyan caught one of the flying hongbaos and i drew a pretty elaborate map like this...

and after which, fanglynn wrapped it and hurled the thing over our heads before we were caught by the DM (smacking kwara's face in the process).
it was bloody funny.
and for the few minutes after that, we were giggling away like guilty schoolkids.
then i had this brain wave, "wahh shit, wait scully when we come back from cny hols then got one big hole in the assembly plaza!"
and the giggling started all over again.
funny shit.
